Local Motors Expands Internationally By Opening New Dealership In Beijing
Disruptive technology company capitalizes on surging demand for luxury vehicles in China by offering the Rally Fighter
Beijing, China (June 17, 2015) – Local Motors today announces it will open its first international dealership on June 18 in Beijing, China. The dealership will sell the Local Motors Rally Fighter, the world’s first co-created vehicle that is equally as comfortable on city streets as it is off-road on rugged terrain.
The dealership in Beijing will be operated by Mr. Wei Liu, the CEO of Beijing Junyu Automotive. The Beijing Rally Fighter dealership is located on the ground floor of the Jinbao Jingya Grand Hotel; 269 Nanxiaojie Chaoyangmen.
“I purchased two Rally Fighter experiences last year and fell in love with the vehicle,” Liu said. “This is the most unique vehicle I’ve ever driven, and the Chinese people are hungry for something truly unique to drive. I am thrilled to be able to offer it to them.”
Research from McKinsey & Company in 2013 demonstrates the rising demand for custom, luxury automobiles in China. It found that sales of premium cars in China grew by 36 percent per year from 2002-2012. The premium car market is expected to grow 12 percent annually versus only eight percent growth for passenger vehicles for the next five years. China will thus surpass the United States in premium car sales by the year 2020, according to the report.
“The new location in Beijing showcases America’s manufacturing prowess through the world’s first co-created car, the Rally Fighter,” said John B. Rogers, Jr., Local Motors CEO and co-founder. “Every one of them will be built in the USA and exported to China.”
Rogers explained that each Rally Fighter is built by hand, and because of that, each one is unique to the specific desires of the buyer. There are countless ways to customize the vehicle so that each one is one of a kind.
“With the Rally Fighter, we’re bringing a completely original American vehicle to a huge market with an appetite for the unique,” Rogers said.
